The World of Arkane
In the beginning there were the four Elder gods. There was Artus the Storm Lorduler of the heavens, At his side was his Brother Tritus the Sea Kingand his two sisters, Infurnia the Burning goddess and Sha’rok the Earth Mother. And they joined together to create this world. Artus and Infurnia joined together and caused the world to form for the dust between the stars. Tritus covered the world in water and Sha’rok birthed the lands between the oceans.
They all joined together to create the beasts of the fields and the fish of the sea along with the plants to feed them and they reveled in their creations. Each of them went apart to enjoy their new home, but after a time they each grew lonely and each created a people to love and live with.
Artus created man and woman and gave to them the gift of fertility so they would be fruitful and multiply. Sha’rok created the stone dwellers and called them dwarves. Infurnia who loved the forests more than anything else created a people to share her love and she made them long lived so they would be able to tend the forests and called them elves. Tritus did not want a people like his Brother and Sisters so he dedicated himself to creating more fantastic creatures so he created the dragons and centaurs and the other magical folk.
Artus built a shining city and called it Aladon, and here he housed his children and they wanted for nothing. The Storm Lord chose the smartest and wisest of man and placed him on the throne of Aladon to rule his people and Joshua Mavramorne became the first human king.
Sha’rok made tunnels beneath the earth and gave her people the great cavern when her industrious people built the City Dwarvendell in her honor and they created many wondrous things to delight their goddess. The most cunning of all was Davin Goldenmane and he was asked by his people to become their leader.
The Elves shared their goddess’s love of the woods and were loath to harm the trees, but Infurnia taught them how to shape the living wood so they could dwell with in the forest alongside their goddess. The most beautiful of the elves was Dianna FreeLeaf and she was place at the heart of the wood and called Queen. All lived in happiness and none perished for each people were with their maker.
When the Elder gods had created the world they had thought nothing on the bloody star in the heavens, but it was an omen of doom. Also at creation was the being known as Za’Garoth the Wraith Lord and while the Elder gods were reveling in their creations, the Wraith Lord began to twist creation to his wishes. Because the was not a god he could not create a people of his own, but with beguiling words and powers of his own he worked his will on may creatures who would listen. Soon he had his own followers and to these he gave a lust for battle and a hatred of the gods chosen peoples. When the time was right he gave his people the order to march on the unsuspecting chosen peoples for the bloody star had risen again.
The Elder gods had begun to feel uneasy for they had heard the whispering wing which warned of the calamity approaching. When the Elder gods at last saw the twisted hoards approaching they reluctantly taught they peoples the ways of war.
Long and terrible was the war but no one died for all were immortal. The Elder gods look around and were shocked at the destruction that had been wrought upon their paradise. With the baleful bloody star burning overhead Artus called his brother and sisters to him and said. “We must do something or our world will be destroyed.”
“I know what we must do”, said Sha’rok,”We must make all creatures on this world mortal. If they are gravely wounded or get to an old age they must die.”
“But where will the dead go?” asked Tritus
“I shall remake Aladon up in the heavens and those who are righteous will go there.”
“And those who are twisted and Evil, I shall cast into darkness and shall burn until they are pure once more.” Said Infurnia.
And the Elder gods made it so. When the first combatants died the war ended in shock, all retreated and then the First war was over. Each people retreated into their homelands to consult their gods. The Dark horde who had followed Za’Garoth scattered for during the fighting he had disappeared. It is said that the Elder Gods had confronted Za’Garoth and had destroyed him.
